Garmins cannot be pirated.

Trust me, I know

They are serialised and hardcoded. Very strong security.

Not much hope for me getting a dodgy copy of Europe maps for Tom Tom then!

Does any one knwo if the version 3 maps are compatible with Tom Tom V5. It seems the complete maps are available on CD for around

Tomtom Go 500 has the main European routes, Go 700 has all the European routes. Neither is released yet. As Go 300 has been released (Rachels just bought it) and 700/500 havent I guess they are having a few problems with the maps.

Cider there is aslo and option to download maps straight onto your gGo 300 using blueteeth and a mobile. Have you checked this out? Mind you it would be a painfully slow download.

On the original subject; the maps are definately more up to date and can be updated again via a mobile, full poscodes are accepted and, my favourite "Avoid Motorways". The traffic option seems okay but I have buggered the 1 month trial on that so, watch this space.

Just got Tomtom 5.0 for the palm through the post, comes with half a dozen cd's for the Euro maps. Installing them it came up with the option of installing the maps to tomtom go! May well have a play with my tomtom 300 for these. Cider you may well want to PM me

I also got Navigator 5 delivered ...... the installation instructions are a POS

can you use tomtom nav with any palm or does it have to be the tungsten?

I think TomTom is pretty 'pirateable'. I have seen that stuff all over the net.

Its the Garmins that are well locked down.
