I sandblasted two, but it had no effect . Worth a try though.

Vixen, where do you live? I can remove/blast the wormgear/refit the TCT if you're local to Hants.

Thanks for the offer Loft. I'm thinking I need to get it replaced ASAP though as the noise is really quite loud. I could get it sandblasted and keep as a spare though so I might take you up on it later

Have you tired Hardtopguy for a new TCT? He can get them over here in around 5 days, at a lower price than a stealer too.

I may also have a leaky valve seal on no.4 cylinder.

Is you oil consumption fairly high?
Altho i have already posted on the "S2000 under the hood" this seems to be more fit.

Loftust, could you please elaborate a little bit further on those two statements. Altho i am familiar on how the TCT works (oil pressure etc), how would a leaky valve seal affect that? Would it lead to decresed oil pressure? Could the leak be THAT big?

My problem is that i changed the tensioner about 1.5k miles ago and it makes noise again.

My oil consumption (03' MY) is very high, approx 1L for 1.000km (600 miles) and i know something is wrong. But i dont get how this could already do any dmg to the tensioner.

Cheers,
Kostas.

I haven't got a clue what was causing my temporary high consumption...it just stopped!

I did my own separate thread regarding this, and a possible TCT noise earlier this year...a search for threads by me will show you what I did to investigate, and may help you too.

Thanks for the answer on this loftust.

Did you maybe change the oil you were using on the car? Hence the increased consumption.

Will follow your advice and have a look on your threads, cheers.

Temporary oil consumption I'd probably put down to either carbon build up in the rings or just the ring gaps getting into sequence.

Carrie, if you ever do want an engines 101 discussion just let me know
