You want to own a CTR, those bad boys are getting bought up by Chavs all the time now.

The S is still a very exclusive car IMO, i don't see that many of them at all in my area and i've never seen one untastefully modified.

You only have to wander down to our car park to occasionally see an S2000 with "some chavy Honda bodykit" and aftermarket wheels Huw

Same here - After seeing a chaved up S2000 in a supermarket carpark, complete with driver and his mate, then another racing his mate in a turbo'd Saxo, I started looking for an alternative for the S2000.

Still love the cars it's just that I feel the relatively exclusive image will be tarnished over the next year or so when more of these start to appear.

Agree on both points

it's not that bad yet, but it's only going to get worse I suppose

I still think what will hurt S values most is when it is discontinued

there is a definite kudos (and hence prop in values) in driving what is still a current shape car

How many times have I heard that over the past 4 years.

Along with the other prophecies of doom that the second hand prices will bomb and the car will become another piece of Jap-tat.

I'm happy to say that it still hasn't happened. The S2000 has a good image and continues to have fantastic residuals. My car is still worth almost half the original purchase price after 7years/82k miles. Meaning it's only lost about

Not at the moment, in time possibly. I have a feeling it could have the same kind of life as the Lotus Elise. Which also seems to have stayed out of chav hands and is a similar type of car.

It's a car that doesn't seem to have appeared on the chav radar yet. Maybe that's because they write them off on the way home from buying them, before they get a chance to ruin the cars. Maybe it's the lack of tuning options, or maybe it's because Corsa's can beat us in the traffic light GP

We've had the odd one on here, but not many at all considering the age of the car.

The Elise is much more specialist than the S2000. The chavs have stayed away because of the Elise's reputation for breaking down (you have to really want a car with the reputation the Elise has) and it's spartan nature. For one thing, where do you put the speakers for the kickin' ICE?

Also, there are a scant few suppliers of bolt on tat for the Elise.

The S2000 is a much more user-fiendly proposition, it is reliable, relatively spacious and being Japanese and popular in the US, has a lot more 'tuning' parts available.

The only downside for most of the bolt on boys is that there isn't a lot of extra hp to be had with chips/air filters/exhausts and the insurance is high. This is keeping a lot away, but as retail prices of early cars continue to fall.......
