Thanks lads - I put a new gasket on when I got them done yesterday so hopefully that won't need to be replaced.

Can anyone recommend someone to check this for me in dublin? Someone with experience in doing a valve adjustment on an s2k?

Also can loose valves cause damage to the internals of the engine?

Thanks

Dillon

Ok so brought it back to the mechanic today - he is 100% adament that the settings are correct - they are based on a manual he has

What are the actual tolerances just to confirm?

His ones from memory were 23 and 30 but I may have that slightly out.

He has agreed to redo then tomorrow with me there just to confirm everything is in order

He has also assured me that although he agrees there is a ticking there that if they are slightly loose it will not cause any damage only make noise.

What do we think of that outcome?

Ok so the tolerances in his book are definetly higher then the tolerances in the diys!

There's the feckin problem. Minimum driving until I get that sorted tomorrow.

How would this happen - was there old tolerances that were updated by someone?

He showed me the tolerances book like - madness!

So would .23 intake and .27 exhaust be the ideal tolerance so? And If my tolerances are out by what looks like 0.07mm would that make a big difference to sound?

Thanks again for all the help lads

I went imperial 0.008" and 0.010" and followed a combination of the robinette guide and this one http://squeezer.net/s2ki.com/S2K_Valve.pdf So go for the bottom end of the spec 0.21 and 0.25

Would the bottem end of the spec not increase risk of a burnt valve?

You don't want to go tighter than the bottom end of the spec. but you'll be fine with it spot on.

Forgot to say there's also a few videos on youtube that show you how it's done
