Well, in all honesty mate you are lucky you was able to restrain him as he sounds like a bit of a monster, £27,000 of coke is a HELL of a lot of drugs and whilst you have the satisfaction of knowing this prat is behind bars... 3 years? what the hell, he'll be out in 18 months, for having that ammount of drugs he wants locking up for a lot longer, wants to pay the £27,000 Back to the government as a tax and pay for your car to be fixed!
Glad it had a happy ending and good luck pursuing the money to get the S2000 fixed.

The sentence doesn't matter to the overlords (costs them dough) - they like to keep the little merry-go-round of illegality going, so they can tax offenders at 100% of their assets.

Russ, think this is great news. In a way your tenacity has got this man off the streets. If he hadn't crossed you in the first place and then you been vigilant enough to spot him and chase it up with the police, he'd still be at large. You are an honorary 'Hot Fuzz' member ;-)

Glad to hear there was a result of sorts from this. He sounds like a total head case from your original post, and I think you played it right not wishing to get involved, he might have been carrying a knife for all you know.
