Do they really? I didn't notice at all. I thought the reason Aeroflot rarely got hijacked was because even hijackers didn't think the airline was good enough to hijack!

Agreed - the entertainment systems are better on BA all round. I'm pretty sure that BA has a younger fleet than JAL. Mind you, if that was the only criteria, you'd fly Singapore Airlines.......

Also BA has first class while JAL does not

JAL has better hosties though.....

Depends where you sit guys, JAL 747's have a much better economy than BA.

but JAL still have DC10's!

Cathay is my favourite - Hong Kong's new airport is superb.

I always fly Cathay when I have the option, but from Tokyo to London you have to go via HK which adds a good 6 or 7 hours to the journey time (allowing for transfer time etc.).

Though since I lived in HK for 6 years (an was actually involved with the construction of the new airport) I sometimes do a stop-over there if I am flying to or from the UK. Flight times are also better if you fly via HK, they are night flights to and from HK but daytime flights to and from Japan.... much better for sleeping on the Cathay flights...

I suppose this has become topical..

Tokyo James mentioned flying in to Israel. I've been there a few times, to Ovda, near Eilat. I've always flown El Al. Security is quite impressive, and most annoying.

Anyway, EVERY time I've been to Israel, they have asked me who I am visiting, and they have CALLED them from Heathrow at 5am to check my story.

I've also been strip searched coming back from Ovda, and the first thing they did was take my shoes away.. I guess we now know what they are worried about.

I think the moral of this story is, if you're flying to a tourist resort, don't be a single male.
