Those 2 plastic pieces that don't colour match
Why do we have to have those two thin plastic cover strips on the boot of the car?
I did not take them off to find out - but they really irritate me everytime I clean the car because they are a terrible colour match with the rest of the body.
Other parts of the body are plastic and they match very well - so I guess these pieces are painted separately.
By the way - has anybody noticed any colour fade yet on the plastic - that's my biggest worry after seeing all the fading Miata's over here.

They are on the panel at the base of the rear window on either side. I'm at a loss as to what they do but they match pretty well on Silverstone.

I always assumed they where blanking plates that were removed/replaced as part of the hard top install. I can safely discount that notion as I know you did your own h/t TIf.
So, WTF are they for

I'm a bit curious
- I was hoping somebody had taken them off
- I never like removing panels as often there are couple of JC springs that never want to go back and you can't imagine how somebody originally fitted them.

Mine appear to match on my MC Blue. The only panel I ever have any trouble with is the boot lid. I have to be very careful how long I leave the wax to dry on it, or it looks slightly different.

These 2 pieces are called "Rear Window Lower Moldings". They must be removed to gain access to a "pin" that secures a "clip". What this clip retains, I do not know for sure but am assuming that it holds some kind of trim piece.
