Hi all

I am thinking of getting an intake feed. Not for increased performance but to reduce kangarooing. I want something which looks good and not like a waste disposal pipe slapped to the side of the engine. I don't really want to hack anything off the car either. I got a spoon style snorkel off ebay (copy) - it fits just fine, I had to raise the bonnet latch by a miniscule amount and one small hose but this took 5 mins top once I knew that was what I had to do. No bonnet cutting at all.... although you may need to make a small hole in the radiator plate.

yeah the 04 has a bar across the front of the radiator and you need a snorkle with a slot cut out of it to fit. The one you link to there isnt going to fit IYAM.

I wouldnt buy Muz since tons of people had probs fitting them on here but the snorkle linked shows you the slot just above the intake hole.. see it?

I've been looking on ebay for weeks and nothing has come up


I have e-mailed EP Racing with questions on modifying bonnet, rad plate etc I have now seen this and perhaps it would be a better option. Looks cool as well.

Your biggest issue will be the extra brace on the +04's if you go for a snorkel.
I haven't seen on that fits straight out of the box yet!

Thanks for the imput guys. I have trawled through past forums and it seems that

1. The snorkel may/may not improve kangarooing
2. Is not good for the air filter ie: sucks up more debris
3. Probably won't fit without modding the car even if the manufacturer says it will (Still awaiting e-mail from EPRacing)
4. The rad plate though looking aesthetically pleasing and will fit without modding (according to seller) is probably not a good way to go as it increases the temp in the upper engine bay. Although I could cut a hole in the plate to stop this happening.

guys i was thinking of a snorkal. But I decided against it because i thought if at some point you unavoidably have to drive through a deep puddle? Aren't you at major risk of sucking up water and screwing the much loved engine? With the intake being so low to the ground?

3-4 people out of about 200 had trouble fitting our original snorkel a couple of years ago. Since then the design (and molds) have been modified according to the feedback received and the item has been available for the last 12 months or so. No reports of fitting issues to date. :-)

alexdale - the puddle would have to be most river like as the mouth is at grill level, the AEM is the one where people worry more about this (but they can get an add on that stops it should it happen)

In summary, you wouldn't drive through the level of water needed to be an issue
