Is there anything i can use instead of Shin-etsu Grease?

I use some that I bought from the bay (search for this: 260837843983), it seams ok so far but haven't tried anything else so don't know if it's better or worse than the genuine stuff?

I am interested in where this item is used and what for! I have only owned my SK2 for four months and on driving her the other day after rain; I took a shower through the area at the front top of the driver’s window. I had re-proofed the hood couple of weeks ago and the rain settles on the hood now in little pools so when you drive off, the river flows forward. Is this one of the joys of owning this beautiful machine?

It doesn't have to be, have a browse through the several leakage topics here, most of them will describe your problem and how to fix it... Good luck!

They're meant to be completely water tight
