I agree with Jo, it would be a shame to have the hardtop in the winter and miss out on those gorgoeus crispy days. The heater is more than up to keeping you warm without thermals - trust me I commute 80miles a day in mine often with the roof down even in the winter.
I had an Elise once and the hardtop was pretty essential for winter use, but in all honesty the S2000 is fine without. I'm on my 2nd S2000 and when I bought my current S NOT having a hardtop was a criterion! Didn't want the clutter, and if I'd found a good one with I would have sold it anyway.

have you tried the alan day dealers in southampton/winchester? dunno about their used cars but their service staff are full of shit. ive heard balmer lawn in dibden purlieu are quite good. one of my work colleagues got a honda from them. must be good as he`s a tight jock!
