Default Thanks

Well anyway, for about the last year I've been looking at buying an S2000 (I love them and have never really got around to buying one, married last year, house a couple of years before that - you know the story) but this year I finally got around to leaving the world of Alfa Romeo and doing it.

Anyway, I've been on this site every other day prior to buying the car for about a year and just about everything has helped me (FAQ, general chat - gotchas, etc).

So really this is just a thank you, you all helped a fella and S2000 newbie and ya didn't even know it

Car is MY03 btw and its absolutely great in every way, sadly I wish I could say the same about the dealer but I'll put something down in the reviews about them cos I notice they're not in there yet.

Cheers

Did you check the suspension bushes/bolts? At the moment I'd say that's one of the biggest things you should be focussing on during an inspection.

Bassoctopus - I'm based just outside Reading but the Honda dealer I got it from is Clover Leaf Honda (official dealer and part of the Lancaster group who own the Aston Jag and Range Rover dealers here in Reading). Around here its quite hard to source S2000's, there just don't seem to be a lot of them at any dealers but Clover Leaf always seemed to have a steady trickle so I just waited until one came up.

The thing that caused all the problem was changing the plate over (not officially the dealer tbh but they faffed around for weeks, forgot to tell me I needed the insurance before they could send off the V5s and change over docs, then forgetting to send the insurance, etc, etc). They did the inspection they always claim to do and mentioned it needed new front types and the mute button didn't work. It also had a hands free kit installed which I wanted taken out. After several trips over to Ascot (where they are based) after telling me the car was ready only to get there and find that it wasn't or they were too busy and hadn't done the invoice I eventually picked up the car last Wednesday (having originally put down the deposit on the 30th of Dec last year). Obviously the first things I checked were the front types (which they had replaced) and the mute button (which still doesn't work) and the hands free kit (which is also still in there!). Now I have to take it back to have it taken back out but everytime I ring and leave a message with reception they don't get back to me, so I'm getting close to going to the dealer principle and giving a whinge.

Just all a bit of a pain really and not what you expect from a main dealer.

EDIT - Also forgot to add it was supposed to have the hard top stand and the tonneau cover *both* of which have failed to materialize.

Bada Bing! - I did my best to check, the dealer checked for me and confirmed that they were ok although I would be the first person to admit I would find it difficult to acknowledge what I was looking for (I checked it out in the FAQ and I thought it 'looked' ok

Marshall's often have an S in stock They can also source them from any dealer in the network as well.

I did actually almost go for one at Marshalls - they had a nice MCB one come up in Dec last year, but someone had snapped it up before I even got a chance to go over

They could have got you one anyway though, is my point The one they had in the summer was a little too new for my wallet, so I asked them to find me a slightly older one and gave them a list of colour preferences. Only took a fortnight to source, deliver and pickup

Still, you've got the car now

I'd recommend Marshall's for servicing too, if you're very disillusioned by Clover Leaf (although Ascot sorted me out a new oil filler cap at short notice and steam cleaned my engine bay for me No one else had any in stock when mine sheared).

Nice one, cheers graham, I think I will use them. They're much closer to me. I didn't realise they could have got hold of one for me.

Btw, you don't drive along Peppard Road every day do you, I used to follow an S2000 on the way to work everyday and there arn't too many around here
