Default Test drives ....

Just found this thread on Pistonheads ...

Tragic stuff and very moving to read. Worth remembering the next time you test drive a perfomance car. It's not just your life you're playing with ...

Poor sales guy, no way they should have to risk their lives with inexperienced drivers at the wheel. (could have been a fluke tho...) The bloke that sold me the S has recently sold another one, which had been crashed during a test drive! Apparently the guy test driving was "all balls and no brains" and was pushing the car to the limit. He spun off into a hedge and caused a load of damage which thankfully he did pay for. It really is a dodgy situation to be in if you are selling your car. When I sell mine I think I'll let them have a spin round asda carpark themselves, then take them for a run in it myself!

I saw that thread as well, very sad stuff, especially reading the comments from his father and girlfriend.

link to news paper story .

terrible news, they should stop people just walking in for test drives even though this was not th ecase with this but it is all to easy to take cars out without any show of if you can handle the car.

Terrible story, had been following it for a while.

Very honest and heartfelt comments from his girlfriend and parents.

The guy seemed to have been one of the good guys. Was compelled to post.

That's a really sad tale

I remember Scov telling us a story of a similar nature but it wasn't with a sales guy on board. Horrible to hear things like this

That is really sad

We've had two similar incidents over here in Jersey, one where a guy took a Porsche out for a test drive and promptly run over and killed an old bloke on his bicycle, and the other where a mechanic took a new Tamora for a thrash and smashed it into a granite wall, breaking loads of bones but is still alive.

Dealerships here are getting pretty concerned about test-drives and want full proof of insurance and license before releasing even the lowliest car. Too much money, too little fast driving experience and too narrow/short roads for such powerful cars.

Ben
