Default Tesco Car Warranty

Unlike Hondacare this is fully insured by a bona fide insurer and so you would have the backing of the insurance industry in terms of the ability of the provider to pay a claim, and of the Financial Ombudsman Service in the event of a dispute. Also, it is "badged up" by one of the top consumer brands (who presumably would take notice of somebody complaining about a claim issue should one ever arise).

The price doesn't seem too bad either (I know that the cover may not be that wide ranging but it will cover most serious failures and you are unlikely to have a quibble with a claim). I won't be buying one because I do my own servicing now and which their conditions of cover may preclude, but it could be worth a look at if you are thinking of buying extended warranty cover.

Plus, you get Clubcard points

It's worth pointing out that if you have any mods, you are not entitled to cover.

It could be a cheap way of getting suspension bushes fixed/replaced?

Its worth pointing out that every '3rd party' warranty provider does everything in its power not to pay.

Granted, but if you are minded to buy a warranty, then how much better to buy one that is supplied through a high profile brand and that is properly insured (so that you have easily accesible rights should they start to wriggle at claims time)?

For the sake of clarity I would point out that Hondacare, by comparison, is not insured. So in the event of a disputed claim there is little you can do about it. With an insurer you can complain to the FOS service whose decision is binding on an insurer and who are biased towards the consumer.

I had a travel insurance claim repudiated in part once and the threat of referal to FOS made them pay up without further delay (AFAIK it cost insurers several hundred
