Default Technical question about my Daimler

But.......

Whilst waiting for a an answer elsewhere, because the garages are shut until tomorrow and because it's a nice day to peer under the bonnet, do any of the more technically minded here have any idea where I should look to sort this out. This is the underbonnet view:

I've had an exhaust blow near the manifold which I have ignored since I bought the car, reasoning I'd fix it when I had to and not before.

About a week ago this seemed to get worse (now I'm not so sure) and now the car will not idle below 1500 rpm. By that I mean that it runs up to that speed itself, not that I have to maintain the revs. It's faster still from cold because of the choke I assume.

The computer fault code generated indicates:

Description

"Powertrain Control Module Fuel (PCMF) Pressure Sensor (Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) or signal pipe

Function

Looks for fluctuating vacuum signal and vacuum 'v' throttle position

So should I looking for a box to whack with my rubber mallet (what a top tool ) or a loose pipe?

I'm not that technical I'm afraid but wouldn't a blown exhaust near the manifold cause a drop in pressure IN the manifold? Therefore giving a warning from the MAP?

Sounds logical to me Graham.

I was going to take the car into an exhaust centre tomorrow anyway.

Just fancied a fiddle (under the bonnet) today.

I suppose I could always take the 348 engine to bits. Adjust the valve clearances or something.

I would assume that there's a lack of back pressure.

Nice to see a V12.

Nah, most of them are only just trading in their abacuses (abaci?).
