Default Tech question - clutch and timing belt

Can any one tell me if you would need to touch the timing belt when changing the clutch. I had mine done a while back and since then it sounds a little ticky. Done a few searches but found nothing. Anyone got any idea how much it would cost to get it adjusted.

Thanks

The car doesn't have a timing belt, it has a timing chain. Can't answer your q though

The timing chain is "self" adjusting, rather than timing chain noise I suspect if you think your car is more "ticky" it probably wants the valves clearences checking.

did you have an oil change also?

sometimes if you have a different oil.. then the engine can appear to have a slightly different sound, mine sound more ticky during start up after changing to a different oil..

If you are going to have your valves checked just ensure you get some one who knows what there doing as the S2000's valve clearences are fairly critical.

If you have a good Honda garage get them to quote you, it should be labour only as there is'nt any parts needed. (usually)

I cant hazard a guess at the cost as i do mine myself, which from begining to end takes me about 1 hour.

Well i asked the dealer when they did the service to have a look and see what they thought, and they say the found no problem at all. This was yesterday and it did sound fine today, i shall keep an ear out to see if it returns.

Just a thought, did they change the engine oil mate?

I have noticed on a few cars I have had (esp Honda) that the oil type and level some times causes a different tappet noice and it can sound a little "ticky".

My dealer overfilled the oil ever so slightly (we are talking 50ml) and it was a little noisy. As soon as the level was dropped slighly it stopped!
