Tech faq query
I understand from the tech faq that when replacing SO2s it's necessary to upsize the rears to 245/45/16 to compensate for the fact that the SO2s have narrow rain channels. Presumably this is to ensure that the degree of rubber/road contact is maintained.
My question is - where does this advice come from? Is it Honda, pooled experience or some tyre guru? And if there is a 225/50 tyre with similar tread pattern to the SO2 - wouldn't that suffice?

Erm...
Now on my second set of 225/50 ZR 16 Toyo T1-R Proxes.
No issues at this call sign. Once scrubbed in, they stick like glue, even in the wet and I still get 9,000 enthusiastic miles per set.
However, a large number of Toyo users report excessive side wall flex... Presumably because they went up to 245s?
