Default TCT replacing - urgent?

Hey all,

Well after a good dose of research it appears my TCT needs replacing. Took it to Kwik Fit today as it sounded like a loose bolt under the engine (like an exhaust heatshield bolt or something) but the found out the metal sounding rattle is coming from the top of the engine above the oil filter

Is it urgent to be replaced? From what I can see it sounds like its pretty easy to do it yourself? even for a beginner DIY/Mechannic?

Just wondering whether I should just get it booked in to Honda tomorrow or will it be ok for a few weeks/months?

Well mine has been doing it since i bought the car about 4months ago so who knows how long it has been doing it before that.

Rattle is very noticeable when idling but only does it when engine is warm and actually if i think about it only about 40% of the time when its warm. Not sure if that gives any indication of how bad it is?

Don't know I'm afraid.

Do contact Garage-R via the traders forum for an excellent price for a replacement part. https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=730890

One way of looking at it.

If the TCT fails. Gives up on life..

You will be needing a complete new engine . Choices hmmm

Replaced my TCT last Saturday and cured the ticking noise on idle. Have taken off the air box cover and get a nice vacuum cleaner sound now instead.

as mentioned it's pretty much a no brainer. £110 for a TCT or £2000+ for an engine hmmm. Absolute piece of piss to fit only tricky bit is pulling the pin out and it's not really that tricky just don't drop it!

Yep...I find that using a length of thread attached to your long nose pliers and the pin provides the safeguard needed to do the job...without shaking like a sh1tting dog
