Default tailpipe

Whilst the car is on the drive going nowhere I thought I'd whip the tailpipes off and polish them up. As with all these 'really sounds easy' jobs its far from it.

Firstly the bolts have been slightly rounded (probably me !), and secondly when I have managed to hammer a socket onto them they are stuck fast. Drowned them in WD40 without success but now the socket is starting to slip and I dont want to round off the bolts any more than they are now.

Anyone got any 'easy' suggestions.

I did think of drilling them out but I'm guessing they have a thread on them which I'd then lose and then not be able to put back some replacement bolts.

Heat ?

Leave them on and use autosol and a microfibre cloth to shine them up

Agree, leave them on and Autosol does the trick.

I've used the Auto Glym metal polish and its pretty poor so avoid that.

In regards to your fixed nuts, heat should loosen them up a bit, but I'd just leave them on to be honest.

I can't add anything productive but read the thread as I was intrigued to know if there was a new Exhaust being released by a manufacturer from Poland...

Doh!

When I removed mine (or tried) both the ****ers snapped their heads off, I ended up wriggling both the tips off, drilling the remaining bolt bits out and retapped them to a slight oversize (8mm I think) and re-fitted with new bolts.

Got a tap and die set?
