Suspension Clunk/Knock from the rear at low speed ?
The roads in Bristol aren't the smoothest in the UK. My S2000GT has done 800 miles now but seems to have a clunking/knocking noise at low speed (under 30 MPH) coming from the rear car suspension, the hard top is tightly on and the spacesaver tyre is tight in its compartment.
My friend reckoned suspension noise at the back or maybe something loose?
Over 30 MPH its fine and on very smooth roads below 30 MPH there is no clunking at all!
Is this a characteristic of the car having such firm suspension?
Its the same clunking/knocking noise you get going over railway lines that cross the road !
Thanks Milo Coon

You can't have roads any worse than here on Arran, and my 02 GT is fine at low speed. The only clunk I get is when I go over a bit of rough ground at higher speed and the soft top bounces a little (the hard top being on, of course).
I agree with CC.... that sounds like a justifiable solution. (or make sure there's nothing loose in the tool box).
OMG, Colin, we agree on something AND we've not killed the thread off!

I had the same thing in my car about a half a year ago. There was a clicking / ticking / knocking sound coming from what sounded like the rear axle, during low speed acceleration or momentum shift of the car (reverse to forward movement). I thought it was the pitting of the CV joint that was discussed in depth in other threads, but the dealer simply retorqued all the suspension bolts under warranty, and I haven't heard a problem since.

Mystery solved, took it into Ariva Honda Bristol today and I`m having a NEW Drivers side rear shock absorber this Friday as the seals gone after 800 miles and I`ve lost some of the fluid. Apparently this is very rare and the shocks are not usually a weak point, thanks to the people that posted suggestions anyhow !
