Default Suspension basics

Hello,

I've already learned alot about the weak and strong points of the S2000 suspension (maybe not all of it true and totally objective, but it's a start ) on s2ki.com.

However, I would like to learn more about chassis engineering in general. I've noticed that in the UK Owners Section there is less BS and outright bragging, which is the reason why I ask my question here.

Could you recommend any books that can help me broaden my (objective )knowledge on how a car suspension works, what components influence the handling the most, what modifications can turn a sports car into a real streetracer, etc.? I already did a search (I know this has been discussed before), but I couldn't find the post anymore.

Regards,
K.

Hello,

Here's a good place to start:

http://www.carbibles.com/suspension_bible.html

There's a tyre/wheel section too, which also affects the suspension.

Less BS there is indeed

This looks quite good, although not bought it yet.

Thanks for the links ,

I'd already searched Amazon and came up with this:Race Car Vehicle Dynamics, but realized it may have been too much

I'll start with the Car bible website and get the Fred Puhn book tomorrow (I saw that it covers roll centres, bump steer, roll steer etc). I believe it's a good start to turn an S2000 into a great performer without monster horsepower!

PJL's S2000

I had not seen that thread yet.

All I can say, is OH, MY GOD!!! (in "Janice-from-Friends-style", that is!). That is a beautiful creation. Thanks for the link.

Threads that explain (objectively) what is possible with or essential for the S2000's chassis are always welcome!
