Default Supplying your own parts for service

Just booked in for service in a couple of weeks and I'm considering supplying my own sparkplugs.

It appears that the dealers charge around

Always take my own oil with no problem. Don't see why plugs would be any different.

I think they would probably be a bit cheesed off.

From my experience this sort of thing is seriously looked down on in Skyline tuning circles. The oft quoted analogy is "bringing food to the restaurant".

In your case you could probably just say they are "high performance spark plugs" or something and you didn't think they would be able to get them.

This is the kind of thing that worries me.

On the one hand I don't want to piss the dealer off too much, but I also realise that he is ripping me off.

I wouldn't use the not being able to get them line though, I'd probably just tell them that I am able to source equivalent plugs at half the price.

At the end of the day it is a free market and if they get a bee in their bonnet then I will simply take my custom elsewhere.

So I'm pretty much decided what I'm going to do now, its just a case of do I adopt method 'b' and give them a coutesy call informing them that I'm supplying my own sparkplugs or method 'c' of just pitching up with a set.
