The minute bits of info. I have from Honda UK on the 2002MY say
"The fuel grade sticker on the refuelling flap now reads '95-98 RON min', reflecting the ability of the engine to run on standard unleaded if super unleaded cannot be found.
To obtain the best performance from the engine we strongly (sic) advise that 98RON (Super unleaded) is used if at all possible."

I'm pretty sure US/UK cars are the same compression - but JDM cars use a thinner head gasket to give higher compression. That's why JDM's rate at 250ps instead of 240ps.
