hi guys
Im wanting to polish the S tomorrow if the weather holds up. Do you know what polish I should be looking to get? I shall be going to halfords or a petrol station. whats everyones recommendations? So far ive used auto glym but the results arent all that. Ive heard of some ordering some special polishes online (zymo?, zaino?) but im just after a cheap shine so to speak (without damaging paint work of course)

You can get a 'cheap' version of Zymol from Halfords, there is a shampoo and also a polish, they are about

Good results can be had from Autoglym - I think it depends on your technique more than anything else (no offence by the way).

First of all hose the car down to remove surface dirt.

Invest in a mitt (e.g Meguiars Microfibre Wash Mitt) and use two buckets when washing the car - one bucket with Autoglym Bodywork Shampoo and water, the other with just water so you can rinse your mitt in there after doing each panel.

When you've finished dry you car with a hydra-flexi blade (and a waffle weave towel for the excess water).

Apply polish to each panel in turn and leave the car for approx 20 mins. When you return buff *hard* with a cotton cloth. When finished spread Autoglym Extra Gloss protection over the panels and leave for 60 minutes. Again buff off and then marvel as you see your own reflection on your paintwork

I am by no means an expert in washing (unlike Rahula, Wanabe etc. ) but a little elbow grease goes a long wa when it comes to washing your car!

I disagree with your comments about Auto Glym being bad. I admit it is not of the Zaino type standard and requires a little more effort but I think the results below show what can be done with just a little effort with your standard Hellford's polishes / waxes. Just look at the reflections in these piccies.........

I cant be bothered these days - I use wax it wet - you spray it on once youve rinsed the car off and shammy it dry - it got 5 star in Autoexpress is VERY quick and does a dam good job too
