Default Stutter at slow speeds

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone knew why my S stutters at slow speeds ?

ie: rolling along in traffic, 1st gear sub 10mph speeds, foot down and it kinda bogs and kangeroos as if suffering from heatsoak. I have to rev it up high with clutch down and then bring clutch up to get it rolling properly again and it makes me look like I should be wearing a burberry cap and be hanging over my sterring wheel !

It happened before I ever modded the car so Im sure its nothing to do with any of the mods. I have cleaned the map sensor and Honda could only advise resetting my ECU which did nothing. Other than that they didnt have a clue.

Its not a major problem and drives fine the rest of the time but its just an annoyance that Id rather wasnt there.

The cars just clocked over 64K.

But the good news is that I got S20DD X from DVLA for

Sounds like you need a cold air intake ...

TBH, I've never had the kangarooing problem, but then we don't have crawling traffic up here

I've only had my car since Nov and suffered from the kangarooing for the 1st couple of days until I started filling her up with optimax.

Haven't had it since.

Until Sat.

Don't know whats different, but its happened 3 times this weekend.

And the weather here has not been warm, so I cant blame that.

Typical of the S I'm afraid.

Get a CAI (apparently), or get used to dipping th clutch and uppping the revs when moving slowly.

a cai can help (i've got the spoon carbon fibre jobby fitted) but it won't cure the problem i'm afraid.

i still get the odd bit of kangarooing when crawling through traffic

That's kangarooing - a common feature of the car

CAI is one way to help, the other is learning how to live with it

OR just drive the open road

Welcome to the club. You will get used to the problem and be able to respond quickly. It's just a shame that such a nice car makes the drivers look crap!

You may get better results on Shell Optimax, but I don't think it's worth the bother as I get noticeably better mpg from Sainsbury's SU.

I have had my 2001 car since November and whilst I love it, I'm aprehensive about how bad the problem will be in the hot weather!

Thanx for advise, but ive got a CAI already that routes through to the bottom of the inner wing for better cold air and I have only ever put Optimax in it. From the sound of it, it seems a common trait then ? Surprised no-one has pinned it down yet tho.

Is it the same with post 04 cars aswell ?

It's just a quirk of the car. You'll find in time that you anticipate it without realising it and feather the clutch slightly and then you get little to no probs at all.
