Default Struggling with my S

Hi Guys,

I am having some strange problem with my S. I came back from holiday (so the car had been sitting there with the clifford alarm armed) and the car wouldn't start. I jump started the car which got it going and then I went for a drive to try and charge her up. I was about 7-8mins into the drive and then she just gave up at a roundabout. I lost all electrics and basically could ahve the hazards on for about 5 mins before them stopping also.

The AA came and jump started the S and all has been fine. Within the week I must have done about 2 hours of driving collectively and then I take her out Sunday and 2 mins into the drive again it cuts out at low revs as if the battery is barely charged. I was able to restart it and got it home and have not driven it since. My local honda has said they will test it for me but I obviously am a little worried driving it there incase I get stranded again.

Any ideas on what this could be?

I would guess you have a knackered battery that isn't holding a charge.

Buy a new battery.

Either battery not holding charge or Alternator not charging battery.

Check voltage on the battery with and without car running.
Ought to be ~14 volts with it running if not alternator is dead

If it cuts out whilst driving I'd look at the alternator.
Most cars only need a battery to start them (well unless huge stereo, lights etc all the time).

Is she stalling at idle??? It does that if it's been disconnected from the battery for a while until it 're-learns' the idle point. I have that problem every time I've disconnected the battery for the first drive - then it's fine.

Does sound like battery might be dead as well though.

A knackered battery will prevent the car from running since it is part of the electrical circuit.
