Is there any way of stopping the usual clutch plate rattling on overrun under 4000rpm as mine suffers from this?

Chris
Replacement clutch is the only option I'm afraid - you need the 055 clutch to stop the vibration below 4000rpm and even then some owners claim that the problem is not necessarily solved.

PDQ - its not at a specific speed, its at any speed at a certain throttle position

Just went out in it now and put the lid back on the airbox, and whilst I can still hear it is about half as loud as with the lid off.....

I suppose as long as it is not doing any harm, I won't (or at least will try not to) worry

I have the similar sound. About 3500 rpm on the gas pedal. my bet is the throttle cable.

The best way i can describe the sound is a metallic buzz. its usually when the engine is at 3500 rpm and the gas pedal is not touched. car is just coasting. when i tap the gas, sound goes away.

Living with it now, not too bad...

however.........

I have now noticed what I think is the same sound x50 when at around 8.5k revs?

This leads me to believe it may be the clutch - if it is, is that just normal clutch sound under load or should I be concerned?

My car does the same thing. It only makes the sound when I am cruising in any gear and at the same throtle possition every time. This very anoying and taking away from my enjoyment. I do have a broken bolt on the header heatshield, maybe that is it.
