Default Stock ECU code

Hi, I was wondering that are you able to tell from the code on the ecu which

model year is it from? Cause I think MY03 ecu will give the car around 10whp

more than the MY00 ECU, so may fency a swap.

Also, anyone know how much more power will the J's or spoon ecu make over the MY03 ECU??

Cheers,
Allen

J's I believed its customised. As for Spoon, they recommend you to have fitted all the other mods (such as Intake/Cooling) before the ECU.

On a dyno day run a few weeks back, the Mugen ECU does ~7WHP more than a S2k with only intake mod, so I would imangine it gives ~8WHP more than a standard S.

J's and Spoon would be similar figures I would imangine.

Was it a yank that told you this?.

IMHO you wont get 10WHP from an 03 ECU, sure i bet honda changed the fueling 'slightly' possibly leaned it out, but you wont gain anything really even on an older S.

With ECU its the ignition timing and fueling release more power with some mods of course on the S.

I wouldnt bother.

FYI i have spoon ECU and other basic bolt on mods 200WHP.

Pissing into the wind with this one, the 03 will not net you any gains over a 00 ECU.

I know you probably wont get any more peak power out of it, but from what I

read from the yanks , the torque curve is better through out the entire rev

range specially low to mid range, so the car is much better on DD, i kinda think

it's true, cause when I tried my mates MY02 car, the low end feels better than

my car, and the vtec cross is not as obvious as my car so i think the 02 ecu has

made low - mid range more torquey and hence you feel less change in torque

at vtec.

Also by looking at the dyno plot from the other thread you guys posted, the

torque curve of the 04 or after cars is much more smoother than the 00-01

cars, no obvious switch over point in the curve, only progressive increase in

torque.
