Hate to think of the warranty and insurance hassles though

Cheers Nick
Yep As I said Ive had nothing but bad experiences with Eibach progressive springs so am looking at one solution which would be the Spoon uprated dampers with the stock springs.

I belive the 05 dampers are essentially the same as the 02 (if not identical), the Nitron dampers will enable you to easily firm up the ride for spirited/track driving and are also more composed than OEM on the twisties on the softer settings. They are much lighter than OEM and so single wheel bump is handled much better. Finally, traction is improved as the car doesn't skip like the OEM setup has a tendancy to do when on bumpy country roads

TBH, I would probably put with the skipping to get the 02 feel back.
Or maybe the nitrons would give me the best of both worlds on the 05 - communication of the 02 with the improved ride of the 05.

Euan,
I believe a lot of that 'less skipping' is down to the reduced RWS on the later cars.
A stiffer AR bar and uprated dampers would most result in a 'better handling' car, but only reverting to the older toe links would achieve the original liveliness.
Might be easier to chop yours in for an AP1!

If my old car had not been so unreliable I probably would have held onto it. If I was loaded I would buy an older one in addition to the current one.

So if the dampers as the same on all years, what are the changes? Springs, geo, roll bars, toe links ?
Also I thought all UK cars are AP1s as that refers to engine type?
I'm sure my 04 has AP1 on the chassis plate :confused; again?
I still think Craig is right a truly engineered suspension set ratherthan built to a budget set up has got to be the way forward. So long as it isn't a complete to set up and keep set up!

The sports shocks only have the single adjuster
How do you adjust the rears ???
Craig mentioned he is awaiting the remote adjustment kit to make this easier is this on the Race kit only ?
