Default sticky calipers

I'm sure (but not 100%...) that I can feel my calipers gripping a little. I've not noticed that my wheels are getting hot though.
Is there any other way of telling that the calipers are sticking?

...or is this just my subconscious trying to find the excuse to get the calipers refurb'd AND painted?

Thanks

Jack it up mate and spin the wheel by hand, should be a little bite but not enough to stop it doing a rotation or two

Usually parking it on a flat surface in neutral and trying to push the car forward and back a bit will tell already if they're sticking or not

Or park on a slope and see if it rolls.

If it's a bit slow to release then it's hard to tell. I had a front caliper that stuck intermitently. You could jack it up and spin the wheel fine, but one time I came to a stop in a cloud of smoke, so obviously it had stuck. Though once cool, I drove off again with no problems.

Them being hot doesn't mean they're binding though, they get hot from hard braking too which usually goes together with a bit of vtec

Or just do the preventative maintenance now for peace of mind then you are sure there's no problem.

When my rear was sticking I could boil an egg of my alloy after 15 mins on the dual carriageway. The alloy was near impossible to touch.

Yeah give it a drive round the block and avoid using the brakes. These cars decelerate a lot in gear so if you're sensible and there's no hazards it's fairly easy to drive a route without touching the brakes.

If the wheels feel warm or hot from normal speeds without using the brake they're sticking, if not you're probably fine.

And this. Giving them a good clean while they aren't doing is a sure way to stop them. Most S2000's seem to get binding/sticky callipers at some point if preventative measures aren't taken.

Right. I'll take it out for a decent spin tomorrow to see if the wheels heat up but after a short drive tonight I'm pretty sure they're sticking.

Can anyone recommend a place that will refurbish and possibly powder coat? I'll search threads and/or post a new thread for that tomorrow.

Thanks for replies so far.
