I'm having the bumper modified as we speak
I've had some plastic welding done to cover the spaces left by the number plate.
I decided against a stick on number plate-wherever you stick it-it will eventually damage the paint (that's what I was told)
I am going for a biker size side number plate.
I'll post pics when finished
I currently have no number plate and the holes are filled in beneath. The car looks much better-looks more agressive, almost shark like. I think to finish the job off properly I am gonna get some mesh grills
I've had the number plate off for 2 weeks, no problems as yet
I can recommend the body repair guy-he is spot on. pm me if interested

That would be a big no-no as the plate has to be reflective.
The US market have oblong bumper-plugs to cover the 2 pairs of holes, what are those little black squares? Are they more holes? If so it seems like overkill by Honda.
How do you remove the surround? Do you have to go round the back of the bumper or can it be done by unscrewing the surround? I'm tempted to see if mine has all those holes.

Yep - done the same as Alan, looks much cleaner
Action shot - Peter's is in the background
It takes about an hour of fiddling to get the macano plastic surround off

Getting the surround off is a bit of a bastard. It's really well secured by the black metal lugs (see pic). I think they are only there to pull the plate surround in at the ends to follow the curve of the bumper.
Not sure how you would remove them other than carfully sawing them off, or writhing them out. Also, it is very difficult to get to the area at the rear of the bumper. And it is filled with a sort of polystyrine (spelling???) block.
