Stereos to fit 02?
Can anyone tell me what Pioneer or Alpine models will plug straight in to the 02 model clearing the flap. I was looking at a Pioneer DEHP8400MP and the fromt folds down to reveal another face which looked very nice but Im a bit wet behind the ears with regard to stereos so if anyone can help I would appreciate it.

Colin,
I've got an Alpine 7893 MP3 CD HU. Like Mike said, you can also get the adapter to make it work with the dash controls and it's well worth it. For the best price look to these guys. The website isn't great but their prices are and their service is pretty good too.

Mike, Rob, do they sound better than the oem 02 head unit? Do the fronts come off, fold down, do any tricks and can the illumination be changed to match the rest of the car?

I imported my 02' and the oem head unit was c**p. Also it didn't seem to want to tune to UK radio stations and stay tuned. Don't know the exact model number of the Alpine I went for, but will be driving it tomorrow and will let you know. Yes, all in all, the new one is far better sounding. Especially low frequencies (bass). Can't compare it to the UK supplied units though.
As for tricks, it does what I need it to- plays cd's and radio stations. The face is removable.
The illumination is bright blue (unchangeable) which took a bit of getting used to.

Just for your info Colin....
Head unit COM-7874RB
Alpine adapter- KCE-865B
If you decide to go down the Alpine route, I suggest you check the remote dash buttons well after installation. The first adapter I had muted the radio/cd when the lights were switched on
Mike.

Is there a CD/Tuner you can get where only part of the face unclips, that works with dash controls, it's miles better than a 7in X 3in lump of plastic in ya pocket. The Subaru had a small clip off section and your much more likely to take it with you and not leave it in the car.
Any one know?
