Default stereo loses settings everytime i turn off

just put my headunit in my car, everytime i turn off the ignition it loses the settings, really annoying! what have i done wrong? its wired to the ignition 12v (just like it has been in previous cars) but it wont keep its settings. how do i sort this? if i wire it to the 12v constant it'll be on all the time, how do i make it so it comes on with the ignition and save its settings?

Take it out and swap the yellow wire and red wire. If it's red to red and yellow to yellow, change it to red to yellow etc. That should work.

Chad.

I have a JVC and it hasn't caused me any problems.

If your stereo is losing settings it is because you haven't got the permanent live wired correctly.

You have an ignition (yellow) and pemanent live (red).

These need to be wired correctly.

Yup.

I found out only yesterday the permanent's on a different fuse from the stereo, fag lighter & dome lights in the Prelude! Think the air compressor popped that one.

As I found out last year whilst in a remote location in France!! No music and no ancillary power for a SatNav that wouldn't charge properly. Plan B!!

Razarsharp - this was printed up a while back - any use? As Nick says there are two primary feeds into the stock unit. One continuous fed through a fuse and the second only becomes active when the ignition is engaged (via a separate fuse).
