Default steering feel whe stationary

Hi all

Noticed today when turning steering wheel on my 05 model , both directions very slowly when stationary feels a little jerky almost as if power steering catching up with mment. It is fine when moving and when turning wheel normally.

Is this normal or a sign of some impending steering issue?

thanks

SH

It will feel a bit jerky. You're forcing the tyres to rotate when they're stationary which is not good for the tyres or the power steering. You should always try and have a bit of motion when you're turning the wheel.

just the tread "walking" as you crank the tyre round on the spot.

Do you also notice the engine advance as you turn the wheel? it uses alot a power! so at idle there is not enough being generated.

Turning the wheel while stationary will cause unnecessary tyre wear! I mean, before power steering would you have tried to turn the wheel while stationary??!!

Thanks all for your replies

Probably s2000 paranoia

Its probably the nature of EPS type steering that i can feel kick on and off when turning wheel very slowly when stationary. Although i have had car 18 months and never noticed it before (probably never steered at standstill beofre )
