Well, I did the intake carb cleaner trick.

Seemed ok for a week or two (although most driving wasn't stop/start so error may be slightly hidden!) but stalling happened again yesterday.

Looking through the forums, may be worth cleaning the IAC ?

Lambda/O2 sensor - Can this be "cleaned" or looked at?

OK

Not seen this thread before.

I had the same problem 18 months ago, it was the A/C compressor stalling and causing the Auxiliary belt to struggle.

You can check quite easily by having the engine running, open bonnet, blip throttle (via the butterfly) when the car comes back to idle look towards the aircon compressor and see if there is a struggle like the car is going to stall.

Solution, new compressor or get a shorter aux belt and remove the aircon.

OK, an update, it gets better (well, worse!)

Didn't have the right tools to remove the ICV so didn't do that. While I was there, I thought I'd clean the map sensor. I did this by spraying injector/carb cleaner (not much but it comes out quick) the hole in the intake and the hole in the sensor (that goes into the hole in the intake).

After that it really runs badly. At first it really struggled to idle properly and was smoking a bit out of the exhaust.

Pulling away was hesitant and jerky. In gear is now jerky/hesitant/reluctant. Always tries to stall now too so I wonder if this helps diagnosis?

Have removed map and blown into it and the intake hole to dry it out. However, still idles badly.

Started car without MAP and got the engine light (to be expected I think). Will do an ECU reset and see what happens.

Would cleaning the MAP inadvertantly bu66ered it up?

In some ways I hope the problem stays so that I can take it to Honda and they can't deny a problem!!!

A MAP sensor is a very sensitive device and not designed to have solvents sprayed into it IMO.

I hear of people on here doing it, and often wonder why...

I don't know why now I just read of people doing so, so thought I'd give it a go.

Ran the ecu reset as per MB sig instructions.

Car seems hesitant in low revs/gears sometimes hesitant 4/5k rpm where you expect it to pull. However VTEC is fine, no noticeable powerloss there.

Oh, it stalls all the time now if I stop or ditch the clutch. This I see as a "good" thing as Honda won't be able to deny a problem. However, what's the betting it'll be fine (well, back to intermittent) by the time they have a look at the car

no cel btw.

HAving driven it about this afternoon, it now kangaroos quite a bit (not the heat soak type, happens when driving along) and more importantly now stalls all the time! Hopefully it'll carry on like this so Honda can't deny a problem and can sort it under my ext warranty.

As I say, VTEC is fine so I guess not MAP related and defo o2 sensor???

OK, now after 25 miles the CEL has eventually come on!!! At last, now I'll call Honda tomorrow and get them to sort it.

Been running like a pig all day, stalls all the time, lots of kangarooing etc.

Will update once I've heard back from Honda.
