Battery new as I replaced (as a matter of course) when I bought in the summer. Terminals all good and tight (I did them after all! )

Don't want to go the route of buying things (unless v cheap) and replacing as I have a hondacare warranty and they can pay for that sort of thing. Would be handy to sort though as they may not play ball if they can't replicate the error (what with it being intermittent and all that). I intend to get the service done early in the new year so will get them to sort then, just be nice to sort it out myself if it's something simple to sort.

ECU reset next, will report back.

I had this issue .. I took the MAP sensor off and used carb cleaner on it.
I then ran a LOT of carb cleaner through the engine.

Issue went away.
Was it stalling for you?

What exactly did you spray carb cleaner on/in?

We had that problem on a Peugeot; very intermittent, never cured.

I'd do a reset & clean the ICV with carb cleaner, but I suspect it's somewhere in the electrickery.

Spent the weekend diamantling the 'Lude's FI, because the fast idle valve's on its way out & it sounds like a boy racer, revving form 1,500-2,000 rpm on warmup!

Is it a pig to restart once it stalls from idle?
I.e requiring a lot of cranking with foot on the floor? ( flooded)

No, starts perfectly after stalling.

Update.

Reset ECU and problem went away for a few weeks but came back in bad traffic last sunday. Honda looked at it on Monday and said there's nothing obvious, no fault codes and no honda bulletins regarding the problem. Advice was to monitor it to see if there is a pattern.

Happened on way to work, not after being in traffic. A few miles driving, 50mpg country roads etc., pulled up at end of the road and it stalled. Then I was in traffic and it stalled a few times. A few minutes later and it's fine again.

Service and air filter done, so not that.

May try the ECU reset again and see if goes away for X weeks. May help trace problem?

Anyone else any thoughts?

I had this problem with mine for over a year, was driving me mad.

I took it to Honda several times, eventually had some manual tool installed for me to press a button on when it happened to record what was happening for 30 secs before and after. They still couldn't find anything wrong.

It just went away after one of my services (although I'd had another service in between with no difference). Wasn't even a big service. Sorry no help whatsoever as never got to the bottom of it

I am having similar problems, unlike you i got a P0122 CEL code which 'might' indicate a failing TPS.

I have a new MAP on the way, and i am sourcing another throttle body (cant change sensor seperately easily grr), i have cleaned the TB and checked for leaks but nothing sticks out.

Will watch this with interest as it might help me if i cant solve my issues.

Good luck!

Edit: I did change ths plugs though which has made the issue slightly better (less frequent), i'd check yours and see if they need replacing.

A few people lately have had valve clearance issues. One guy even had a bent valve.

And someone else who I know locally, had a plug tip come off

Check the obvious...

PS - once you reset the ECu the car needs to relearn idle.

Valve clearance issues?!!!!! sounds scary.

Problem is becoming more frequent now. Honda wan't me to note the sequence of events to try to ascertain a pattern. Easier said than done as you don't know when it's going to happen!! Wish it happened all the time then they can't fob me off saying they can't reproduce fault.

Why does the ECU not log these stalls????

Lambda sensor - likely cause? How much to fix, how can I get Honda to cough up for one (I have hondacare warranty) if this turns out to be the problem. Can I ask them to try a new one??
