Unlikely to be fuel - nearly all fuel burns even if crap.
Read through the link in my sig and check all those - then report back or we are all essentially guessing.

I had a really duff tank of fuel last year. I literally thought the engine was trashed as it ran so badly. It would pull ~ in vtec, but in normal driving it was a dog. It woudl stall, struggled to idle, and drove like a kangaroo with deep heat on it's ring.
When the tank got half empty i refuelled. The poor running went almost straight away and never came back.

Right. Same problem this morning.
Fine on way back though!
Had removed and done the map-whack prior to both journeys so not that I guess.
Would prefer if it did it all the time then I'd know if any "fixes" had worked.
Will try the ecu reset next? Again, anything to gain by reading the codes beforehand? I do not have a reader however (does anyone local to purley have one? )

You haven't got a CEL code so you don't have anything to read?
Is it running rich and using more fuel?
When you start it from cold, does it idle fine for about a minute, then start misbehaving? ie once lambda has heated up.
In this case im not sure an ECU reset is going to help, but give it a try anyway.

Check the condition of the terminals in the front lambda sensor plug, honda made the wiring to short and its posible to get water in the plug giving problems. New sensors come with wiring 10mm longer to stop this.

No CEL light.
Running rich? Not sure, will check economy next time I fill up (will be a good week though as my mileage isn't high). Last tank was slightly less than normal (26mpg rather then 28mpg) although that could as easily be attributed to the type of driving rather than anything sinister.
Start and idles ok, carries on idling ok when warm too.
When I do get the problem, I restart and it idles ok then after 5 secs it idles to 1500rpm for a second or two then stays idling OK at about 900/1000rpm.
How do I locate the front lambda plug?
