Squeeky Brakes
My front right brake has started to squeak annoyingly . The car was serviced 6 months ago. If I brake heavily, the noise will go, but it comes back again if I drive another 10 miles or so.
I drive the car everyday to work - about 10 miles each way.
There is no impact on braking time/power, so I don't think it is the pad worn down.
I remember reading somewhere that it could be due to driving in urban areas (stop-start-stop-start) and gunk off the road (oil, dust etc) sticking to the pad? I've only recently started to drive under these conditions.
I'm going to get it checked out at a garage unless anyone else knows what could be causing this??

Same here, and I'm driving in exactly the same conditions (stop/start daily urban driving)
If I brake slightly it squeaks, which is both embarassing and annoying when coming to a gentle stop in the middle of town, etc.
If I brake harder it doesn't squeak, but obviously the car comes to a halt very aggressively. Not really what I want to do in the middle of town.
I'm pretty sure its not a problem with the pads as the previous 9k service (done very recently) shows the pads at 85% and 75% respectively.

Yup - 16.5k miles, two track days and mine are squealing like stuck pigs. Same thing happened with the last S I had, 15k but more track days. They're getting changed on Monday (sorry, don't know cost - company car).
