Default Squeaky hardtop and rattling folded soft top ...

Hi all

Have just bought an 02 s2000 GT (black/black/red) and can't stop grinning when I'm driving it ...

Only problem is, the hardtop squeaks and the soft top folded behind the seats tends to rattle and bang around when driving over bumpy roads (of which there are many on the Isle of Man!)

Does anyone know any solutions to cure either of these problems? (I'm not sure if the banging/rattling noise from the soft top is caused by the glass window banging against the plastic soft top bay or whether it's caused by something else)

Thanks.

manx. Our second IOM Owner as far as I know. The other is "Man's Best"

I dont know the answer not having a HT myself, but I'm sure you'll get plenty of response from everyone here

We're hoping to arrange a meet on IOM at some point next year

Take the hard top off and put the soft top up and down a few times until it is as flat as it can go. Gently then press it back a bit further (I stress gently). Make sure it is 100% dry!!!

Squeaky bit can be remedied by some sort of grease product from Hellfords - I forget the name - but app needs to be done every 6 months or so. Someone will let you know what it is called.

When you put the hard top back on make sure it is exactly alligned with the holes - on both sides(sometime requires some fiddling).

Enjoy!

Holts do a foamy one, which is better, less greasy. If you can find it.

The Halfords one smells like condom lubricant, which is not nice.

The soft top seems to rattle a lot (when up) when the car is cold.
Once warmed up, the sound seems to go.

But take the HT off!!

My car HATES the cold first thing in the morning, feels like its going to rattle apart! The roof mechanism is the worst, but it quietens down when warm. Now my right roof latch is beginning to rattle to

The Honda recommnded spray grease is White Lithium. Helfords had 2 types in when I went looking. No apparent difference between the two, but they were a b$gg$r to find.

I had a rattling hard top. Took it to my dealer who said that the front clips had come loose. They fixed them in place and 95% of the noise has now gone.
