Default Squeak and creak

Hi all,

Relative newcomer to this forum (don't know why) but an S2K owner for a year now. Can anyone help me with these two minor niggles I have with my MY04 GT?

1) There's a really annoying high pitched squeak coming from the front left wheel. Only happens when the car has been running a while (so everything is nice and hot) and seems to me to be a brake calliper/pad - mainly because it squeaks under light application of the brake pedal; but it also squeaks with the wheels centred - if I turn from side to side it disappears. Any ideas?

2) More worrying is the ominous creaking I'm getting from (what seems to be) the front suspension. Again, this only happens at the end of a long journey, but over bumps in the road the front suspension is making a very odd creaking noise, which is not that loud (ie it's not blatantly obvious to the untrained ear and is only audible at town speeds). Has anyone experienced this kind of noise?

Sorry for the vagueness of these descriptions...

Cheers

Matt

Just make sure you don't have a suspension spacer still in one of your front shocks - it has been known!

Didn't have 1) but had a similar problem with 2).

I tracked it down to the bonnet catch . If you push up & down on the front of the bonnet I could get mine to make a knocking noise. Adjusted the bonnet catch to make closing the bonnet that bit harder and bingo problem solved.

Hope this helps.

I also had the knocking which I also traced mack to the bonnet latch. It was partially solved by adjustment, but eradicated by a good greasing of the catch too

While you are talking about squeaks and noises from suspension. had a service last week and there was a recall on my 52 S2K, on the rear bushes, alot of clicking going on. Dealer sorted it out.
Just thought you should know, if you didn't know already.

Cheers guys, thanks for all the help. AS you say, it's noise 2 which worries me more - I'll check for spacers in the suspension but I'd read the FAQ on this subject and it doesn't handle like it's got a spacer in there (not excessively crashy or vague in the steering). I'll take it in and see if Amethyst Chippenham can trace it.

I'll let you know, bassoctopus! I'll take the wheels off tonight after work and check it out.
