Sorruy Monkeybone, we have AP1's in the UK and Europe, an AP2 is the 2.2litre American version, here we have the facelift version but it still has a 2Litre engine, and is not designated AP2.

AP2 actually refers to the chassis model of the facelift model, including both the 2 litre and 2.2 JDM and USDM models, it was just never called it over here. I just call them AP2 because it's quicker than typing "facelift model" or "'04+ model"

You say tomato, I say AP2...

That was me if it was Thales in Wells! Car is there most days. Just a bit slow looking at Spotted thread.

If you're round or about the SW, look at this thread : https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/880...he-south-west/

Sorry mate but you're wrong...

Have a look under the bonnet of any 2.0 litre facelift model and you'll see it just says AP1, Honda only change the chassis code with a facelift when there's a different engine involved... is what they've been doing for the last 30 or so years with all models.

people just refer to them as AP2s cos all the americans and american webshops do, but if you're buying engine parts you might go wrong cos you'd have needed the AP1 bits.

But in the context of "spotting", using AP2 as a designator for facelift seems totally acceptable.

I blame Wikipedia for my wrongness for quotes such as...
Officially two variants exist: the initial launch model was given the chassis code AP1, while the AP2 designation was given to vehicles produced from mid-2003 onwards.
and...
The 2004 model year incorporated several revisions to the S2000 and was given the chassis designation of AP2 (note: this designation was never used in the UK although the improvements to the vehicle were applied).
and...
The AP2 also included the introduction of a larger version of the F20C for the North American market.
Wiki, the font of crap info...

I did find this on another forum:
Model Line, Body and Engine Type Engine
2000 - AP1: S2000 / F20C1 ..... 2.0 L
2001 - AP1: S2000 / F20C1 ..... 2.0 L
2002 - AP1: S2000 / F20C1 ..... 2.0 L
2003 - AP1: S2000 / F20C1 ..... 2.0 L
2004 - AP2: S2000 / F22C1 ..... 2.2 L
I'll still call the facelift model an AP2, just because it's quicker to type, plus I have the pre-facelift anyway so engine part differences won't affect me.

I concede defeat sir, thou hast bested me
