Default Spoon Air Filter

Has any one fitted a Spoon air filter, received mine today instructions appear to say the internals in the air box need to be chopped about abit?

You can take out the divider from the airbox as stated in the instructions but its not required.

Thanks guys, as yet little difference since fitting a slight whistle occasionally, what gains should the air filter make
