Speedo Spot on ?
I have always been of the belief that speedometres were 10% out.
I have just been advised by the nice man in the Black Volvo that he measured me at 88. Funny because that is my normal cruising altitude, and was exactly the case when the measurement was taken.
Seemed a very spooky coincidence.
Has anyone actually measured the accuracy of the speedo ?

The Road Angel has a GPS-based speedo function built into it.
Below around 70mph, the difference is usually about 3-4mph. When you get to 100mph indicated on the speedo, the RA is telling me that I'm usually doing 92 or 93mph.
The margin of error based on my own experience seems to be between about 5 and 7.5%.

One caveat to what I said seems to be that the speedo is more accurate when you are decelerating - or at least it matches the RA speedo more closely, anyway.
Did the nice man in the Volvo just give you a stern talking to, or go the whole hog and ticket you......?

This something I wonder about. If I am followed by the Police. My speedo says 96, yet my RA GPS says I'm doing 90. They pull me over and say they followed me doing a solid 98 (on their speedo) what happens?

....oh yes.......I pass one of these flashing 'your speed is now ???mph' signs on the way to work each day - having tired with seeing how quickly they react to changes in car speed (very) I have been cruising through at a set speed and comparing my speedo with the display - me 30 : display 28, me 33 : display 35.
I need to get out more
