Well I shall quote myself from a Surrey meet.

In the advert where the car puts its brakes on at 35 mph and hits the kid and the child is killed and then it says in big booming voice...

"At 30mph this car would have managed to stop in time or the injuries would have been less severe"

I say

"At 45mph the kid would still have been on the pavement and not in the road in the first place by the time the car went by"

And any way, what if the car was doing 30mph and the road was greasy, oily or icy???

Who examines the road conditions cos surely a road at 30mph in the sun and dry is far safer than in any other weather situations?

AE:
You would hope the airline would stipulate it! Commercial aircraft are flown by two pilots, Captain and 1st officer. You would obviously expect that the Captain is a compotent and experienced pilot, and able to fully instruct and supervise the 1st Officer. A bit better than on the roads with a nervous 17 year who has just passed his/her test and drives on the motorway the same day

Cheers Kelk, I'll give it a go. Westie is easy to park, the Omega on the other hand is a barge!

You'll find it easy in the Omega, just remember to look for the front corner of the car behind you out of the rear side window and it becomes a doddle.

Nicely in the space and close to the curb, but not scuffing them.

Problem is, the other kid who's already crossed the road would now be on the road in your path.

Originally posted by Tonky I regularly see driving schools holding up traffic while someone under instruction potters along at 20mph or less. Just as wrong as speeding, and is in fact an offence. They have no business being on the road IMO unless they can safely and confidently maintain 30mph.
Are you sure about this - an offence? 30mph is the maximum speed not the recommended speed.

CT is right, Ade - it was recently used to prosecute an old dear who was toddling along on the motorway at 10mph or so - 5 points and a
