Just read this Chris. Sorry to hear of the damage.
Good to hear that he stopped and owned up A similar thing happened to my Focus outside my flat. I was away at the time but a note was left on my car by one of the neighbours who had damaged the rear bumper and boot. They had already notified their insurers and accepted full responsibility. So all I had to do was call their insurers and they arranged everything including courtesy car.

Latest is that I just took the S to get an estimate for the damage. I'm told it's just the bumper and reinforcement bar (the metal bar behind the bumper) that need fixed and the car is fine otherwise Also the other side has taken full responsibility to now should just be a matter of going through the various parts of paperwork and bringing the car in for repair.
After the visit to the garage I took the S for a spin, just to test everything was still working you understand - had a big back end squirm as vtec kicked in shortly after joining a motorway from the slip road , road was slightly damp in places. Careful out there!
