Default Soft Top won't close!

Had the hard top on for last couple of weeks. Took it off this evening, but went to raise the soft top afterwards and nothing happened!

Thought for a minute I was being stupid, and forgotten e.g. the handbrake, but now convinced there's something wrong.

Am I being stupid? Have I missed something - tried with engine running or not. Windows still work, but roof toggle just does nothing, no mechanical sounds, just dead! Could it be a fuse?

Any advice much appreciated - going on holiday tomorrow, so worst possible time to happen!

It can be pulled manually. RTFM and you should at least be able to close it.

Check if the handbrake light is on on the dashboard.

If not - the sensor may have come unplugged in the centre console under the handbrake so that the roof motors don't work even if the handbrake is on.
(happened to me once...)

I never had a hard top but when you put one on doesn't it stop you raising the roof? If so the button/connection may be stuck. Try putting the hard top on and off again.

Interesting hypothesis Middlers. Will try this - seems probable since 3 years of no problems, then hardtop on for 2 wks & stops working.
Found another thread on this, and note that handbrake light is working, as are window wipers, so not sensor or fuse.

Good to hear it can be done manually - couldn't see mention in the manual of this - guess you just haul it in to place?

Off to investigate...

Success! Spot on - the microswitch was stuck. Winkled it up with a scalpel blade. Thanks all!
