Default Soft top velcro

Either side of the rear screen on my MY03, under the flap, is a strip of velcro.

What purpose do they have? Reason I ask is that one of them is missing and the other one is hanging off. I can't see any obvious need for them so I might rip the other one off as it sometimes comes out from under the flap and whips about on the roof and screen.

as someone mentioned once think it was used to hold a piece of protective something over screen during transport. Mine had remains of fluffy white cloth attached to it when i got the car.

Now use mine for the elastic miracle window tensioners - which work most of the time.

They are supposed to put some tension into the roof so the window doesn't crease when folded.

Believe it or not there have been recent group buys in the UK for them.

The tensioners are after market and just happen to use these velcro squares you mention to attach to.

As i said i believe these squares were used to hold a protective sheet over the window during transit to dealer - although not 100% why would need that on glass

Speaking of the plastic screens - and slightly of topic, on mine there are some zipped seems, is this part of the manufacturing or does it allow the plastic screen to be replaced if it's damaged - I can't see how to actaully unzip it though...
