Soft Top Repair

One roof repair guy recommended Tigerseal to me, for sticking vinyl patches to the inside of the roof...

Anyone used this stuff before, I believe it's commonly used to seal windscreens?

Thanks Saz, how's your roof looking these days? Got a new one yet or is it still keeping you dry?
Forgot to add earlier, the tear aid patches are about 3 inches by 5 and are clear so are hardly noticeable inside the car.

i had a very similar tear on mine, about inch long. took to a local upholsterer/trimmer guy - fixed it for a tenner, looks very neat. he patched it underneath and then just filled the small tear

You should post pics if you have them

Mike, yes thats the stuff...sorry I missed that you'd posted earlier.
New hood Saz? Oh well...maybe it was long overdue anyway
Here's some pic's of my tear aid repair:
This was the driver's side that had a tear in the roof about 200mm in length:
Passenger side done just for extra protection on the off chance it would start to go:
The box the stuff came in:
it held really well during the winter months and didnt let any water in or cause the roof tear to increase in size at all. The only thing I found was if the car was parked out in the sun and was VERY hot during the summer, upon putting the roof down the patch on the driver's side did start to lose adhesion due to the pressure of the roof support bar running over it every time the roof went down. Replacement is simple though and for such a small cost I personally don't think it was too much of an issue only replacing it every 6 months.

Firstly thankyou to everyone who gave advice. After looking at the price of a new hood £765 I decided I just couldnt justify it just yet. So set about a repair. A temporary patch applied with Bostic is supporting the repair.
Pre repair, not looking pretty.
Post Repair, a little excess that needs trimming, colour match not that bad, in real light.
I could have made a better job, but was looking to make it water tight, i may use a very sharp stanley blade to trim flush and reapply the vinyl repair product. I used
Came with a variety of colours, that you mix, sets in about 20 minutes, and seems to be very well adhered, so fingers crossed, it will last till the spring next year.
Thanks again
Roger

Hi, I came across this thread when looking for ideas on how to repair the same tear in my roof . It sounds like gluing a patch will work, so wondered if anyone had a small piece of material (black) that I could purchase?
Many thanks
