spoke with insurance database services and they cannot provide the information as to which insurer wrote the car off or for what reason so looks like it will be getting stripped. will do some more checks like a compression test and check out the EML and see how they look

Some pics of the car

Might still be worth talking to the DVLA about an inspection and re classification.

Wouldn't worry about doing a compression test, a blown engine would make the car in-useable, but not an insurance write off. Unless you are defiantly going the scrap and strip route.

Interesting about the tinfoil hat for the car, instead of a CAT D stolen/recovered how about abducted by aliens/recovered.

Since the 26th of October 2015 the VIC scheme closed so a VIC test is no longer required for cat C cars and you cannot get a V5 re-issued for a cat A or B vehicle since then either where as you could before. The DVLA don't classify cars its the insurers that do it and only notify the DVLA that it has been classified as such, they have no information other than "this car is a category X write off". Looks like we'll definitely be stripping it.

That does indeed look good. Too bad you have to strip it.

It's clearly all a conspiracy...CIA* cover-up, etc.

Might be me/ the angle of the photo, but that rear end looks like it's been shunted sideways a bit in a classic "S2000 diesel on the roundabout" manoeuvre - twisting the x-frame is enough for them to write of Cat B isn't it ?

I think it's just the angle of the photo, both rear wheels are spot on.
