I have noticed that there is a slight metallic rattle around 2-3k rpm that seems to becoming from the right hand side of the engine. It doesn't appear all the time but is more likely to appear whilst accelerating within 2-3krpm range and will disappear if I ease off the gas or once the revs are above 3.5krpm. I've had the car on the ramps and there is only a heat shield around the cat which looks fine, I've checked pulling/pushing the gear lever to the side to see if it's a ringing shifter issue, but that made no difference.... I'm thinking it might be something related to the TCT? Is this a warning sign that the TCT might be on its way out? Would it be worth removing the TCT and having a look? Not sure how to remove it or what to look for? Or nothing to do with the TCT?

The car pulls fine in every gear and has no problem hitting the vtec

The early clutches, and some later ones, rattle and buzz a bit in that rpm range.
Ignore it, unless the CAT is broken up - drop the pipe and take a look.

its completely normal! dont worry the early s's are very mechanically musical! mine does it also.. its fine! :-) turn your music up that should sort it.
