If its a garage then get them to issue a new one
If private do an MOT check online to see the history

You can get an MOT done up to one month before the expiry date and it'll run contiguously.

So there's your answer, if it passes visual inspection.

This is either pure laziness on the part of the seller or an attempt at deceit. Maybe something like the CAT has failed and he doesn't want to pay out for it. Tell him to get it an MOT before you view it or walk away. There are plenty of things it could fail on that you just won't be able to see, unless you are an MOT inspector yourself. Not worth the risk, he knows with a fresh MOT it would be worth more or easier to sell so why not get one?

Just a quick update on this car. Seller wouldnt entertain taking the vehicle to have an MOT test even if i paid for the cost of it. Car also had more things wrong than was listed originally.
The car itself was nice enough but i decided not to risk it because at the end of the day its a ten grand bet.

search continues........
